What do powder and liquid filling machines do?
A filling machine transfers the mixed, prepared product into its packaging in a set quantity and with the same fill weight every time. Accurate fill weights prevent both product giveaway and complaints about underfilling, while hygienic filling keeps the product clean all the way into the pack. Powders are measured by auger or by weighing; liquids are filled with piston or nozzle systems.

Upstream of the filling machines, dosing lines weigh the raw materials in the recipe and transfer them to the mixer, while hopper screw conveyors keep the hopper of the filling machine continuously supplied.
How to choose the right filling machine
- Product flow: Fine, dusty powders such as flour, milk powder and spices are filled more accurately by auger; granules and free-flowing products by weighing. For liquids, the consistency of the product determines the pump and nozzle choice.
- Packaging type: Pillow bag, pre-made doypack, container, sack or bottle; each needs a different filling spout and handling.
- Fill weight range: Retail packs of a few hundred grams and 50 kg sacks require different machines.
- Level of automation: On semi-automatic machines the operator places the pack; fully automatic machines form, fill and seal the pack without manual handling.
