Heated mixing tank or homogenizer?
A heated mixing tank keeps the product at a set temperature, or cooks it, while a geared agitator circulates it continuously; it suits easily blended products such as syrups, sauces, dairy products and liquid detergents. A heated liquid homogenizer adds a high-speed rotor head: it breaks the oil and water phases into tiny droplets and creates a smooth, glossy structure that does not separate in products such as creams, lotions and shampoos.
Models and capacities
| Model | Series | Standard capacities |
|---|---|---|
| Heated mixing tank | KP-ISK | 150, 500, 1,500 and 3,000 L |
| Heated liquid homogenizer | KP-ISK | 150, 1,000 and 1,500 L |
| Heated liquid homogenizer | KPSH | 250, 500 and 5,000 L |
| Industrial liquid homogenizer | KP-SH | 10,000 L |
Motor power is determined by the capacity and the viscosity of the product; for example, the 500 litre heated mixing tank uses 11.2 kW and the 1,500 litre model 18 kW of total power. Volumes not listed are built to order.
How does the heating system work?
In the KP-ISK series the vessel is double-walled. A water or oil bath between the two walls transfers heat to the product indirectly and evenly, so the product does not burn, stick to the bottom or lose its properties. A thermostat-controlled heating unit keeps the temperature constant, and an insulated outer jacket reduces energy loss. KPSH series homogenizers also homogenize the product while heating it, giving a smooth blend in cream and gel products.
Equipment and options
- Material: Product-contact surfaces in AISI 304 stainless steel, AISI 316 on request.
- Mixing: Geared agitator motor; speed adjustable by inverter from water-thin to cream-like products.
- Homogenization: High-speed rotor head that breaks up agglomerates quickly.
- Vacuum: Optional vacuum system to prevent foaming and air bubbles.
- Controls: Control panel for speed, temperature and time; optional level sensor.
- Discharge and cleaning: Bottom drain valve and optional CIP cleaning system.
Which products is it suitable for?
- Cosmetics: creams, lotions, shampoos, conditioners and liquid soaps
- Food and beverage: milk, syrups, fruit juices and sauces
- Chemicals and cleaning: liquid detergents, disinfectants and solutions
- Pharmaceuticals: syrups and liquid preparations
Models of 150–500 litres suit boutique cosmetics production, while capacities of 5,000 litres and above suit industrial shampoo and liquid soap production.
